These are six prayer stations we used at the WorshipConnect "Emerging Worship" lab.  Our theme was the 'Word of God', so you might find them particularly helpful on Bible Sunday (25th October 2009 - see www.biblesunday.org for other material), or on a day when you are focusing on scripture.  If you had less time you could miss out the prayer for Bible Translation and Lectio Divina stations.  As usual with prayer stations, try to make sure they look attractive, that there is enough materials for everyone to interact with the stations, and that you give people a 'get out' so that if they don't want to engage with the stations they can just sit, reflect or sing.

Silver & Gold
[need: posters + plus bowls of one and two pound coins]
Psalm 119:72 ‘The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.’
Grab some coins from the bowl. Feel the weight of the coins in your hand. How does it feel to hold money? Does it make you feel excited? Happy? Anxious?
What are your priorities in life? Would you be prepared to make less money if God asked you? Do you give more time to making and worrying about money, or to be with God? Spend some time reflecting on this Scripture, then realign your life with it.

Honey
[need: posters, a bowl of disposable tea spoons and some squirty honey]
Psalm 119:103 ‘How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!’
Taste a spoonful of honey as you reflect on this Scripture. Think back to a time when this has been your experience, when a word from God has provided sweetness or soothing in your life. Thank God for this. Write a couple of sentences on a piece of paper to sum this experience up, and leave it here as a testimony for others to read.

Light
[need: posters, Bibles and fairy lights in a vase, or candles]
Psalm 119:105 ‘Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path’
Think about areas in your life where the path is dark and unclear. Spend some time in prayer asking God for guidance. Open a Bible and read.
Alternatively, ask someone else to pray for you at this station; ask them to listen to God for you and share any words from him.

Tent
[need: posters, some different shaped houses made out of paper and some pens, and perhaps a tent to base the station around]                                                                                                                                                                   John 1:14 ‘The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.’
Jesus made himself humble to be among us. Are you God’s representative in your neighborhood, or do you hide away? Do your neighbors have an experience of God having become one of us, or do they not yet know? Spend a moment reflecting on your own presence in your neighborhood.
Pray that the Word – Jesus Christ – will be known in your community, by writing its name on a house. Alternatively, make your own house out of paper, to represent a specific part of your community you’d like to pray for.

Prayer for Bible Translation
[need: posters, different translations of the Bible, prayer points sheets, tub of play-dough and paper towels]
Psalm 119:130 – ‘Break open your words, let the light shine out, let ordinary people see the meaning’
Pray for God’s Word to be available to every language group. Pray using the prayer points scattered around. Use play-dough to create a symbol of your prayer.

Meditate
[need: comfy corner with soft chairs, cushions, small lamps, other atmospheric lights, eg. globe lights or fairy lights. Posters and enough hand-outs for everyone]
Psalm 119:99 – ‘I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes.’
Meditate on Scripture using the ancient practice of Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina has been likened to "Feasting on the Word." The four parts are first taking a bite (Lectio), then chewing on it (Meditatio). Next is the opportunity to savor the essence of it (Oratio). Finally, the Word is digested and made a part of the body (Contemplatio). Follow the instructions on your sheet.
