Glasses - through Jesus everything looks different

The idea is to make individually crafted 3D style glasses with coloured lenses. The big point is that through Jesus everything looks different (just like looking through coloured lenses).

It might help to look at the power point at this point to see where this is going!

Like us, you might need some help from your teaching team to help you expand the point. We used this activity to help us create something together during our Easter service, but this is a broad enough theme to work anytime. I’m always really keen to get the whole community interacting together whenever we can, so we decided to set up our meeting space café style.

Lay the resources out on each table; when you want the activity to begin show the instructions power point once through and leave it on a loop so that people can refer to it whilst creating their masterpieces.

Do post comments if any of this is unclear!

NB: Print the templates on 300gsm card or there abouts.

Guy - we used this on Sunday morning at our All Age service. It was great! We were looking at Ephesians 1:18-19, and making the point that we need to see the world through "Jesus' eyes". All ages got involved, it was great fun (even for the un-churched baptism party!)

We did simplify the making process slightly, partly because people were making them on their laps as we didn't have space for tables. Our instructions were:
1) Draw and write on the glasses templates with felt tips (we didn't use the vector shapes).
2) Cut out the holes and the outline.
3) Stick the coloured film on.

We also printed the templates ourselves on 160gsm A3 card, with our photocopier, which worked fine.

We led out of the making part by singing 'Open the eyes of my heart', and then into prayers for the world with the response:
(Leader) Father God
(Congregation) Help me see the world through Jesus' eyes.
