This is designed to tell the story of Holy Week in an all-age friendly way, with repeated actions and words. The idea is that Peter is having to catch up Lazarus who has missed what has been going on in Jerusalem. It works well on Easter Sunday, to make sure everyone knows the "story so far".

Extract from the script:

LAZ - Hi Peter, I’ve had to stay in Bethany during the Passover to look after my sick sheep, and also I’ve been off Facebook for the past few weeks, has anything interesting happened?

PET - Has anything interesting happened? Lazarus you’ve missed everything! There’s so much that’s happened I can’t even think where to start.

LAZ - Really? Ok, well you just start at the beginning, and maybe we can do some actions to try and remember it all.

PET - Well, first it was Palm Sunday when Jesus came into Jerusalem on a Donkey, and everyone shouted hosanna and waved palm branches. [“Hosanna”, waving branches]

- Then, on  Thursday, Jesus arranged for us to celebrate the Passover meal. [Rub belly and say “Mmm, passover meal”]

- Before we ate, he got down on his hands and knees and washed our feet. [Mime footwashing. say “stinky!”]

- When he broke bread, he said it was his body, broken for us. [Mime breaking bread, say “this is my body”]

- Then he passed the cup, and said it was his blood, shed for us. [Mime passing cup, say “this is my blood”]

LAZ - OK, i’m not remembering all this, can we recap that?

- so its Palm Sunday [“Hosanna”, waving branches]

- Passover meal [Rub belly and say “Mmm, passover meal”]

- Washing feet. [Mime footwashing, say “stinky!”]

- Breaking bread [Mime breaking bread, say “this is my body”]

- Passing the cup. [Mime passing cup, say “this is my blood”]

LAZ - OK, got that. What happened next?

PET - Well, we didn’t know it at the time, but Judas disappeared and betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver [rub fingers together]

  • Some of us went with Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane, where he prayed “Father, will you take this cup from me?”, which kind of meant “do I have to do this?” [lift hands like a bowl, say “take this cup from me"]
  • But although Jesus was scared, he still followed God’s will and he said “Your will be done” [Hands crossed over heart, say “your will be done”]
  • then Judas came with soldiers and they arrested Jesus [Wrists together like in handcuffs]
  • They took him before different courts and even though Jesus had done nothing wrong, they decided he would be killed on a cross [put arms out like on a cross]
