Waiting on the Risen Christ
This could be uses as a gathering prayer at the beginning of a service. It picks up on the story of Thomas, and also themes from Psalm 133 and a general post-resurrection mood. The refrain in italics could be said by the whole congregation.
Extract from the poem/prayer
Like drops of water running together,
we have come here to wait for you.
Like the disciples in the locked room,
we are longing for you.
We have heard stories that you are alive.
we are hoping to meet you.
Like drops of water running together,
we have come here to wait for you.
We are waiting to meet you,
but some of us aren't sure that we will.
Some of us have lost our hope.
Some of us are sceptical.
Some of us need you to be real so much.
Like drops of water running together,
we have come here to wait for you...
