The Gate
This unpacks some of the implications of Jesus' statement that he is the gate, who came to bring life in abundance, and contrasts this with the way others may treat us. You could have the congregation repeat the "I have come to bring life..." line.
Extract from the poem:
I am the gate, whoever comes through me will find life.
Others come to take and to steal,
I have come to bring you life, and life in abundance.
Others come to hurt and manipulate,
I have come to bring you life, and life in abundance.
Others come with fake news and alternative truth,
I have come to bring you life, and life in abundance.
Others will lead you down dark alleys and dead ends,
I have come to bring you life, and life in abundance.
Others come with their own distorted version of truth,
I have come to bring you life, and life in abundance.
Others come with their own twisted take on justice and compassion,
I have come to bring you life, and life in abundance...
