'Promises of God' interactive reading
A while back the verse from 2 Corinthians 1:20 was preached on in our church. In the New International Version it reads "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. And so through him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God."
It struck me at the time what a fantastic response this verse is to any promise of God, and that it would be helpful to utter it when hearing such a promise. I have therefore put together a simple interactive reading, which lists a number of promises from the Bible, and gives the congregation the opportunity to respond with 2 Cor. 1:20. I have picked my favourite six verses, but there is no reason why you wouldn't change it and add the promises that are most relevant to your community. Feel free also to change the way it is read, adding 'solo' readers, or removing the interactive element altogether. I have also given the Bible reference after each promise, but you may want to remove these if you print a service sheet to limit any confusion.
My vision of this is done during a worship service, where the congregation is divided into three groups, as well as there being a leader reading from the front. It may be quite helpful used in the midst of a few songs of worship, as thanksgiving feels like a appropriate response at the end. Use it, change it and comment below!
