Look at the Fig Tree creative reading
The first Sunday of Advent focuses us on the Second Coming of Christ, neatly connecting the end of the previous Church Year with the beginning of the new one. This creative reading helps people of all ages engage with this rather difficult theme, using instructions to look up, down, and at ourselves. Download the script from the link, and have fun with it!
Excerpt from the script:
"Look up," said Jesus. (Have everyone look up.) "And you will see signs in the sun and the moon and the stars."
"Listen up," said Jesus. (Have everyone put a hand to an ear.) "And you will hear the roaring of the sea and the crashing of the waves and the distress of people on earth, confused by what is happening"
"Look around," said Jesus. (Have everyone look around.) "And you will see people fainting and trembling with fear at all that is coming upon the world. And at the shaking of the powers of the heavens."
"Now straighten up," said Jesus. (Have everyone sit up straight.)
"And lift up your heads." (Have everyone look up again.) "For when all these things begin to happen, you will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds. Coming in power. Coming in glory. And you will know that your redemption, too, is coming close."
Then Jesus told a parable story...
