Jesus and the Persistent Canaanite - Drama Script
This is a dramatised version of the story from Matthew 15:21-28, where Jesus meets the Canaanite woman.
Extract from the script:
Narrator: Jesus left Palestine and went to the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon, he desperately wanted some rest and time to recuperate but even here people came looking. A pagan Canaanite woman sought him out.
Naomi: Is Jesus here?
Andrew: He's tired. He's resting.
Naomi: I'm sorry to disturb you, but my daughter is sick. Please come and help her.
Andrew: I'm afraid he's very tired. He's had a long journey and he's been working too hard. He came here to get away for a while.
Naomi: But I know he can help us. I've heard the stories.
Andrew: I'm sorry, maybe another day.
Naomi: Please! My little girl has an evil spirit! I know he can help her.
Andrew: He can't! Not now, not today!
Naomi: I won't leave until he agrees to come with me.
Jesus: What is it? What's all the noise?
Naomi: Jesus! Please come and help my daughter, she's very sick, she has a demon.
Jesus: I'm sorry - I have come for those in Israel - I don't have time to help everyone.
Naomi: I WILL NOT GO! PLEASE - I know you can help me!
Jesus: I have to help God's children first - it wouldn't be right to take what is theirs and throw it to the dogs.
Naomi: No - but even the dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall from the table!...
