The introduction to the letter of Ephesians is a beautiful sweep of profound theology and anchoring promises, but it can seem quite complicated if read just as it stands.

In this responsive reading, the "In Christ" statements have been detangled a little and interspersed with a repetition of the opening acclamation of praise. Each verse is represented however, and are paraphrases from the NIV and the NRSV.

You could teach the congregation the line in bold and let a reader lead the rest. Alternatively, you could share it out so that each "In Christ" statement is read out by a different person. I would then draw attention to just how many wonderful things we are and have in Christ!
