Mrs Jonah

Type: drama
Bible Refs: Jnh 1-4

Here is a piece written by our friend and new contributor to the site, Abby Guinness. It's a monologue written from the point of view of Jonah's wife, exploring the themes of the book of Jonah in a thoughtful, yet humorous way. It can be read and enjoyed by individuals, read to a small group or performed as a monologue in a service or event. Download the PDF by right-clicking on the link above right.

This piece is a freebie from Abby's new book, "The Words of the Wives; monologues from the unheard women of the Bible" published by Authentic, which is available to buy online and in Christian bookshops. Abby's website contains more info and freebies - www.livingandactive.co.uk  Here's the blurb about the book:

"Behind every great man there's a woman who has to put up with him; the charming and frank WAGs of 26 Bible characters speak out in this quirky collection of monologues to read alone, read aloud or to perform. There are a couple for Christmas, several for Easter and a wide variety from the rest of the Bible narrative.

Jeff Lucas says: 'With words that sparkle and rare insight, this terrific book will nudge audiences to laugh, cry and, most of all, understand. More than a mere resource, it's a gift. Don't miss it.' "

Abby heads up the creative arts at Spring Harvest which involves all aspects of their work and programme. Prior to that she was Arts Director at Holy Trinity Brompton, including a responsibility for all age worship. She is also a freelance actor and writer with a passion for communicating scripture. She has worked with Lacey Theatre Company, Riding Lights, Springs Dance Company, New Wine, Detling and Greenbelt. Her first book, "The Word of the Wives; monologues from the unheard women of the Bible" is out now.
