Everybody Praise the Lord - Ps 150 paraphrase

Written By:
Bob Hartman
Bible Refs: Psalm 150
Lectionary Weeks: Second Sunday of Easter (Year C)

This is Psalm 150 paraphrased into a versified/song format. It has loads of creative potential! You could have a leader say the lines in normal type, and the congregation say the bits in italics. You could add a beat either in your words, with clapping or percussion. You could make up a tune, or do it as a rap. You could introduce the instruments as they are named for solo sections. You could add additional verses. The possibilities are huge!

Extract from the Psalm:

Praise him in His sacred space:
Everybody praise the Lord.
Praise him in His heaven place:
Everybody praise the Lord.

Praise him for his hand is strong:
Everybody praise the Lord.

His greatness just goes on and on.
Everybody praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    everybody praise the Lord
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    everybody praise the Lord.

Blow a trumpet, loud and sharp:
Everybody praise the Lord.
Strum a lute and pluck a harp:
Everybody praise the Lord.

Tambourines, just keep the beat:
Everybody praise the Lord.
Dancers, get up on your feet:
Everybody praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    everybody praise the Lord
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
    everybody praise the Lord...
